From Emilia Jane PhotographyI was excited about Amanda and Mike’s wedding from our very first email. There are few venues in Chicago as beautiful as the Chicago History Museum! Their classic style fit perfectly in this stunning space. I’m not sure I can bring to words how wonderful Mike & Amanda’s wedding was. It was really beautiful to see both families reach out to each other and embrace all the love and care that went into raising such amazing people.  Amanda’s joy radiated all day and she was beyond stunning in her Tara Keely gown and Jimmy Choos. And they danced the night away to the incredible music from Matt Lewis of Great Life Music.

From the Bride… Mike and my relationship began and flourished in Chicago, so we decided our wedding celebration should take place there. We wanted our families to experience the neighborhood we’ve lived in and loved, Lincoln Park, so we reserved rooms at Hotel Lincoln – a boutique hotel located in the neighborhood – and the beautiful Chicago History Museum. What could be more “Chicago” than its past?

Finding my dress helped dictate the feel of the day – romantic, simple, beautiful. I was swimming in tulle! Pure white, peach, and blush pink flowers were organized in clean lines on the tables. The girls were dressed in dreamy frost-colored chiffon dresses. Soft lighting was illuminated by vases made at home with love from by my parents alongside cafe lights that hung romantically over our head table. Finding Emilia was like the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow: too good to be true. Her style could not have been more perfect for how we wanted our day to be captured. Our band was incredible, setting the tone for an incredibly fun and dance-filled night. Without them, moments I will treasure for the rest of my life would not have happened.

As the day progressed, I can honestly say that I’ve never been happier in my life. To be surrounded by family and friends who love and support you is indescribable. Being deeply involved in every decision for the wedding made the day that much more special, and personal. If I would give any advice to brides-to-be, enjoy the process. Take your time and think about what you want for what very well may be the best day of your life. I promise, everything will get done so don’t rush through decisions. Meet the people you will be surrounded by that day prior to hiring them. I truly felt like I fully trusted those that I hired and because of that, I enjoyed every minute. Hire a coordinator for the day, if not longer. My wonderful coordinator, Loren, could not have been better at her job. And finally, constantly pinch yourself and tell each other to take in the day – it’s over before you know it! [dotted]
