From Kate Ehrenberg PhotographyI am very excited to share with you this gorgeous Australian couple, who were lucky enough to have had two wedding celebrations to honour each of their cultures. A stunning, modern Melbourne city wedding, with a very fashion forward bride who chose a stylish colour pallet of whites, greens and browns complemented a traditional Indian Sikh temple wedding full of deep pink colour, henna and tradition. I am so thrilled to be involved in this unique cross-cultural event. Below are some beautiful words from the bride highlighting her wedding experience.

From the Bride… I was elated by the prospect of marrying Dev and spending our lives together. However, a big wedding with all the trimmings didn’t particularly feel like me. Dev saw things a bit differently and loves a celebration – thus we ended up having two ceremonies on consecutive days. As you will see there was a traditional Sikh ceremony on the Friday followed by a civil ceremony on Saturday.

Thankfully Dev’s family were happy to take the reins organising the traditional Sikh ceremony, and therefore we became focussed on planning a party for the Saturday. Alto was the venue of choice – situated on top the GPO building – its décor modern and industrial and boasting beautiful views of Melbourne’s CBD. Kate Lord was our ever obliging and enthusiastic events coordinator and Damn Fine Food provided meals for our 116 guests of a quality to rival any 5 hat restaurant. The dance floor rocked to Rutherford DJ’s.

Our flowers were supplied by Art Stems of Carlton North – my only brief was modern and colours of white, green and brown. The flowers were exquisite, Rebecca did the most amazing job!! Toward the end of the evening Rebecca returned to wrap the flowers. This proved to be a most appreciated gift for our guests to take home and ensured that everyone got to enjoy the flowers well on into the next week.

The beautiful photographs were taken by Kate Ehrenberg – her relaxed manner and ability to capture the special moments in a natural unimposing way meant having her at our weddings was a joy.

And then there was us – I did manage a white dress, Manning Cartell, my make up by Rebecca Brown and hair by Anne at Foo Concept. I also surprised myself by walking down the aisle and enjoying the bit of drama that it lent to the occasion! It was no surprise to me that Dev was resplendent in a suit by Hugo Boss. Our wedding party remained small and included my beautiful sister-in-law Honnie and Dev’s lifelong friend Bal who were given free rein to wear something of their own choosing and as a result looked amazing.

Our wedding turned out to be the most wonderful and magical celebration and one that I believe truly reflected who we are as a couple. The fact that it was such an amazing success and that it will be a treasured part of our shared history was in no small part due to the support and joy of our family and friends and the enthusiasm and professionalism of our team of suppliers. I thought this a fantastic opportunity to thank everyone for their efforts resulting in the best party that Dev and I have ever been to!
