Tucked beneath the Tuscan sun is a wedding I promise will manage to steal your heart and probably never let go. It’s wrapped up in a sense of rustic, hearty elegance that blends oh-so-seamlessly with the landscapes of Tuscany. Lisa Poggi worked her usual magic behind the camera, and we’ve got all the postcard-perfect captures waiting right here.

From the Bride…Although we were both educated in England for over 10 years each, we actually met after we returned to Hong Kong. We were both studying a postgraduate course in Hong Kong when he first came to my attention as “the guy in the pink shirt” who an irate lecturer had to publicly wake up. It took a couple of months for Terris to make his move –fast forward seven years, and we would be declaring our eternal love for each other! Terris proposed in the woods while we were hiking one hot summer day in Hong Kong. He had chosen a beautiful trail overlooking Hong Kong’s coastline, but me being in exercise mode, decided to set a brisk pace, blasting through the trail in record time. In an attempt to buy extra time, he desperately suggested that we take a detour up a random creek running uphill. Just as I was about to lecture him about the dangers of flash floods, Terris dropped to one knee, presented the ring and managed to blurt out the question. If he was hoping for it to be a surprised, then he had definitely pulled it off perfectly! At least I could blame the hike on my hot and flustered demeanor! Terris is also secretly worried now that he’ll have to get on a knee everytime I “get in a mood!”

Having been to Tuscany before, Terris and I knew it would be the perfect setting for our destination wedding – elegant in its hearty way, with rustic charm. Finding the perfect venue from the thousands of beautiful Tuscan sites proved extremely distracting, so we tried to focus on what we wanted: an intimate wedding with our family and closest friends, with delicious local cuisine and wine, at a venue which showcased all that we loved about Tuscany.

We fell in love with Castello Di Vicarello, an unique and charming hotel converted from a medieval castle in the middle of the Maremma countryside. It has the backdrop of a rustic castle, yet has been refurbished tastefully with every detail oozing class and luxurious elegance- a place where we experienced heaven on earth! With the help of our most charming planner, Eva of Chic Weddings In Italy, who seemed to anticipate our every desire (even those which we weren’t aware of!), we had heaps of fun planning our three day event, through which we hoped to share with our guests all that we loved about Tuscany. We kicked off with a wine tasting at the historical cellars of one of the most iconic winemakers in Montalcino, followed by a welcome dinner at the cozy Boccon Di Vino. Saturday was the big day, with a sweet and personal wedding ceremonyheld under the olive trees at Vicarello, followed by cocktails and the wedding banquet on the slopes surrounding the Castello and overlooking the rolling hills. A relaxed pool-side brunch wrapped up our weekend carnival of love. Did we mention how show-stoppingly good was the food which the most suave Aurora from Vicarello whipped up, using organic produce which they grew onsite?

It was a magical day and was really fairytale wedding for us. We feel very blessed that we were able to start our married lives in such style with our loved ones – we relive every scene in our heads still!
