Whimsical California Wedding from This Love of Yours… Photography

You know what we love more than anything here at SMP California?  Spending the day with a whole lot of pretty.  So, when This Love of Yours… Photography sent along not one, but TWO gorgeous soirees, we just had to dedicate our day to basking in their gorgeousness.  First up?  A beyond beautiful San Francisco affair, aka, the day we’ve been drooling over since 11 am this morning (to be exact).  And now?  Well, we have the privilege of sharing in a breathtaking gem of an affair literally dripping in sweet DIY details and whimsical moments aplenty.  See every last love-filled second in the full gallery.

From The Bride… I wanted our wedding to really show our personalities and our love story. We have always had so much fun together and I really wanted that to show in the personal wedding touches. I envisioned it being a “beautiful detailed DIY, show our love for each other” type of day!

The most memorable part of the wedding was the ceremony, specifically our vows. We decided to write our own vows and although we were both nervous and hesitant about the idea at first, we are so glad that we did. It made it personal and intimate and something neither of us will ever forget.

We really wanted our love story to show throughout the wedding and we did this by all of the small, but intimate DIY touches. James is British so hints of union jacks & keep calm sayings were placed throughout the wedding. Our table numbers were places we’ve traveled together over the last three years we’ve been together. We fell in love over dessert and so we thought we’d add that aspect into the wedding by including our love for sprinkles cupcakes and s’mores. There’s just something special about both of those treats to us. The flags also showed our personalities and silliness and were a fun touch for the guests. I also loved having personal thank you’s at each seat as we are SO appreciative and blessed by each person who was there & we didn’t want that to go unrecognized.

Our photographers were amazing. Erika and Michael work great as a team and captured the most beautiful photographs. I love that they captured all of the small details, as well as the big moments of the day. If I had to re-do my day and choose a photographer I would choose them again without hesitation!

My best advice to brides is to make your wedding about you and your fiance. Don’t worry about what anyone else will think or say because at the end of the day it’s your day to share your love story! Talk to previous brides for help and hints in the planning process… I got a lot of good advice from sister’s and friends. Lastly, the wedding planning process is fun, but it is also stressful which a lot of brides don’t talk about. It’s okay to take time away from planning and just enjoy the season and the process! At the end of the day, all of the stress and planning will be totally worth it.
