WIUP + Daffodil Styled Shoot + Winners!

Today is one of those days with 101 reasons to celebrate. Not only is it National Donut Day (which we happen to take very seriously) but it’s Friday. Meaning  we’re mere minutes from the weekend AND get to Wrap it Up Pretty. Here to help us is Cara Dee and Allison May who put together this downright adorable daffodil shoot. It’s everything we need to kick-start the weekend, and there’s more of this yellow-filled love-fest waiting for you here.

From Cara Dee PhotographyThere’s a field of daffodils near my hometown that I’ve gone to in the spring since childhood, and each year it increases in size. I couldn’t think of a better time of year or location to put a beautiful couple amidst this field than now. Since the couple has also known each other from childhood they helped create this nostalgic feel for the event.  We made it our effort and goal to show that weddings can truly be planned around a natural environment using only a few creative hand-made elements to make it unique. The location can center on a couple’s love and history, places they know and value.  The field of flowers was our backdrop and main detail, but Petal&Pine’s floral accents could not have been more of a perfect compliment, with snippets of fun color and sweet arrangements, complete with petite, baby daffodils for the boutonniere. And while we planned around the already beautiful scene, we also pulled in other DIY elements such as pinwheels and bike wheels, showcasing the escort cards to really give it a child-like, fun feel. We especially wanted an exciting exit for this couple that displayed their whimsical personalities, and thus after her wardrobe change, we used an old bike they owned. They brought it along and we made it our exit transportation, complete with DIY scrapbook papered cans trailing them. Everything came together from the light breezes and beautiful sunset, to experiencing the first warm afternoon of March for our area.  Nothing could have complimented it all better than our exclusive use of film for the entire shoot as well. Lindsey Fares of Petal&Pine said the following, “It’s hard to compete with an entire field full of blooming flowers, so I wanted to design florals that complimented all those bright yellow daffodils.  Taking my cues from the location and color scheme, I worked with the classic spring blooms- hydrangeas, tulips, ranunculus and threw in some year round favorites-craspedia, thistle, and mums for added texture and color.”
