Brides and grooms to be, take note. A wedding modeled after this inspiration shoot from Brocade Designs + Stockroom Vintage is top of my "Must See" list. Nathan Westerfield captured a shoot so beautiful I'm sweetly requesting an invite - with gorgeous calligraphy from HardInk Calligraphy - if any of you decide to recreate something as timelessly elegant as this. And if you choose to do so, we've got a gallery filled with so much gorgeous inspiration (the chair ties? Genius)!

From the designer... Our shoot was hosted at the beautiful Riverwood Mansion, inside the impressive home’s “triple parlor,” historically used for formal family gatherings and social events. The home was constructed in stages beginning in 1799 and concluding in the 1820s, and is a mix of Federal and Greek Revival Styles. Many presidents have graced the lands with their presence, including Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk, and Teddy Roosevelt.

The concept for the shoot was to embrace an updated vintage theme with echoes of Victorian styling. The initial concept was developed on Pinterest. After selecting a concept and theme, Hillary of Brocade collaborated with stylist and vintage event rentals owner Elizabeth Ulrich to coordinate the overall look and feel of the shoot.

We incorporated modern and vintage pieces to create a feeling of elegance and refinement: our ceremony area was simple with chiavari chairs and seafoam chair ties, and an aisle of peach and ivory petals. Our “cocktail parlor” featured a mantle with assorted blooms and candles, a conversational couch, our cake, and a beautiful bar. The bar provided tips on how to be a gentlemen and was the perfect spot to pick up a cocktail (our signature for the shoot: a peach old fashioned, garnished with fresh mint and a lemon twist). Vintage champagne glasses, decanters, and tray finished the look.

The cake rested upon a vintage bureau from Stockroom with heirloom plates tucked inside of the drawers. We simply embellished the cake with rose petals. Our guestbook was a treasured book of poems, where we asked guests to highlight their favorite passages and leave notes — with a sign from Elizabeth Hardin of Hardink Calligraphy.

In the dining room, 4 tables were set for our intimate party with peach crinkle taffeta linens, vintage plates, and golden goblets. The centerpieces were candelabra dripping with white hydrangea, roses, and berries – and the mantle was styled with photos from family members inside domes of glass with floral embellishments.

Everything about this inspired shoot aimed to be soft and romantic, vintage and modern, impressively timeless.
