Can you even imagine getting married at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden? The minute I send my head down that road of imagining that scenario, I end up in a tizzy of excitement. It would be like a sensory overload in the best possible way, where your ceremony space basically decorates itself. A dream come true, dare I say. And that dream came true and then some for this gorgeous Bride on her biggest of days. And it.was.stunning. Lucky for us, Sara Wight Photography captured every gorgeous moment, and you can see them all right here.

From Sara… A New York native, Caroline had always dreamed of getting married at the Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. When Luke proposed, they booked the venue immediately. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and the foliage more beautiful for their outdoor garden ceremony performed by Rev. Timothy Morehouse, an Episcopal priest. Vibrant flowers decorated the solarium and patio outside. They also incorporated unique “New York” elements into the elegant decor, such as a Brooklyn Bridge stamp for their guest book. Rob Kelley of 74 Events kept the guests dancing well into the night.

From the Bride… We’re pretty dedicated Brooklynites, so the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and its Palm House conservatory made a perfect setting for our late afternoon wedding in the early fall. The gardens were gems, still blooming with flowers. Our ceremony was celebrated under a spectacular old weeping willow, whose branches swirled and rustled in the evening breeze as we said our vows.

Cocktail hour took place by the lily pools outside the Palm House, with the sun setting over our gathered family and friends, and then we moved inside the conservatory for dinner and dancing. The simple but dramatic lighting in the room, floral arrangements from Seaport Flowers and masses of votive lights gave just the effect we wanted—sophisticated but warm and welcoming. We used a vintage wire sculpture of the Brooklyn Bridge as décor on the guest book table and table cards with a letterpress Brooklyn Bridge motif as well.

We wanted delicious food with gracious service– and music that got everyone up and dancing. The Palm House met our wishes for a wonderful dinner and personal attentive service—and the DJ had everyone from grandmothers to our two-year-old nephew on the dance floor all night.
