From the Bride... George and I wanted a contemporary wedding with a touch of old world glamour and what better place to do it than a historic part of Sydney - The Rocks, and followed by an intimate reception of the closest friends and family in The Tea Room in Gunners’ Barracks, Mosman.
It was a calm and serene lead-up to the wedding with none of the frenzy most brides find themselves in! We walked into the church and I walked down the aisle – surefooted and certain that George is the person I want to walk through life with, hand in hand.
The day started with preparations in the historic Sofitel. The girls were getting into their floor-length tailor made dresses by Rene Salud, Manila. I chose this point to become teary… amazed and humbled at the thought that so many of our closest friends and family have put aside their busy lives to spend one whole day celebrating with us.
My dress, also by Rene Salud, was an incredible work of layers upon layers of silk and tulle. The jewelry I wore were pearls borrowed from my mum. They are her favourite pair and I could see that it meant a lot to her to see me wearing them on my big day.
When we were ready, we hopped into the vintage cars waiting for us and were ushered to The Garrisons Church where George quietly waited along with his two brothers/groomsmen. The organ sounded the fanfare and the next thing I know, I was walking down the aisle with my arm linked up to my dad’s. We exchanged our vows and not without lots of smiles and tears while our soprano’s voice was heard soaring through the vaults of the cathedral ceiling.
Our location shots were set in the beautiful historic The Rocks area, followed by a short trip to Martin Place and then across the bridge to Sergeant’s Mess in Mosman. The light drizzle of rain brought out the umbrellas and the atmosphere was magical – just George and I waltzing in the rain – without a care for our clothes or shoes or the camera crew!
Our reception in the Tea Room in Gunners’ Barracks was magical. The night went off without a glitch and we were swept away by the emotions and well-wishes from our family and friends. Our dramatic entry into the candlelit formal area was followed by the incredible speeches and a constant flow of fantastic food and music. Our evening was topped off with the bridal waltz and more dancing in the romantic courtyard of Gunners’ illuminated by hanging candles.
