This Bride looks like an angel, and her wedding? It looks like a dream. In part due to the gorgeous images from Anthony Hoang Photography and in part because it’s was planned to absolute perfection. The result? Pure magic. It’s a day you will want to look over and over again, and you can do so right here.
From the Bride… Magical; this is the word I would use to sum up our wedding. To wed the one I love in the presence of family and friends, frolicking around in a princess gown, having more fun than a child with its first balloon; that was our magic. I am so grateful for being able to experience what I can unequivocally say was the best day of my life.
We wanted to create a romantic, traditional Victorian feel for our Melbourne wedding as my husband and I were originally from Brisbane and most of our guests had traveled from Brisbane. We chose Butleigh Wootton as our reception venue due to the magnificent Victorian architecture, elegant presentation and a unique ambience. Our ceremony was held within the towering blue stone and intricately detailed stained glass windows of the Immaculate Conception Church Hawthorn. The three 1 metre wide white balloons added a splash of whimsical to the day, this was literally a last minute decision (we ordered them on the morning of the wedding!).
Invitations to our wedding were far from traditional. A video of us stored on a USB, hidden within a pen portrayed the aforementioned venues and the who, when and what to wear to our wedding. Handmade timber place cards fashioned from the architraves of our house provided the duality of a personal touch and a favor. As an homage to our individual heritages, 30 cm high letters of K & C were covered with a map of Malaysia (my heritage) and Hungary (my husbands heritage), while the ‘&’ was covered with a map of Australia.
The cake was a family project of great significance to us. The helical pattern, designed by my father in law, consisted of 6 graduating tiers, embodied by a quartette of dense milk chocolate, white and caramel mud; crowned with a traditional fruit cake. A River Gum tree stump served as the cake platform and support for the sweeping balustrade that artfully combined Huon Pine, Myrtle, Red Wood and Cedar, loving sourced by aunties and uncles from as far back as four generations of my husband’s family.
