The best thing you’ll do all day? Meeting these two cuties and reading their proposal story. Believe you me. Because when I tell you that this just might be the best engagement I have ever laid my eyes upon, I am not lying. It’s romantic meets beautiful meets soooo incredibly heartwarming… and it was all captured by Connection Photography, aka, the bride and groom-to-be. From the Bride… First of all, we are actually wedding photographers so that plays a BIG part in this surprise proposal! Joseph and I have been together for the past 5 years. We have been working together photographing weddings for 4 of those 5 years. We have recently been booking wedding all over the country so when we received an email from a couple getting married in the Napa Valley area I was excited! For the last 7 months Joseph, my now fiance, had been telling me that we were headed to Yountville, California for a wedding. The couple was an older couple and they had both been married before so they were getting married on a Monday because it was cheaper. They also had two children and the ceremony was going to be intimate. I had seen photographs, read numerous emails, received their deposit and contract so to me there was nothing unusual about the couple. It actually worked out perfectly because we already had a wedding booked in Santa Barbara for the following Saturday! This should have been my first red flag but I was completely oblivious. So we pack our bags and got on a plane and head to California!
When we arrived the venue was absolutely stunning! Our hotel was amazing and I was even more ecstatic about the wedding! They were going to get married in one of the vineyards and I had already picked out a million places I wanted to take them for photographs. Joseph told me that we are meeting with couple at 7 for dinner and that he wanted to take a few pictures in vineyard outside our hotel before. Again, this is nothing unusual because he always sets up the camera and takes our pictures or takes pictures of me. So right before dinner we headed down to the vineyard (trash can in hand because we forgot our tripod) and proceeded to take some photographs. The first few of me I have NO idea whats about to happen and then he sets the camera up to take pictures every 10 seconds and he asks me to dance. I am still completely in the dark!
Joseph then says to me….” We actually don’t have a wedding here.” Now I’m so confused! I say, ” WHAT!??! Why not?” And then he gets down on one knee!! I was so shocked!!! He kept this a secret from everyone except my parents for 7 months! He made up this entire story, with fake people (he used a random stock family photo he got off of the internet haha) all the bring me to the most adorable little town to ask me to marry him!! I said YES of course! After all was said and done we spent the next day tasting wine, taking photographs and enjoying our engagement in now, one of my most favorite places!
