From the Bride… I suppose the day was inspired by the Floating Farmhouse in Eldred.  Initially, we thought a rustic barn would be the venue to showcase the feel of upstate New York and after viewing a few of them, we realized all the bells and whistles weren’t necessary to enhance the rural appeal.  Instead, we took a gamble on a rental property in Eldred and walked into this calming, light-filled kitchen with a facade of windows facing the backyard and creek.  The Floating Farmhouse, designed by Tom Givone had all the details we wanted to set the tone of our wedding;  a sense of history, modest details, designed to contrast the perfect balance of old and new surfaces.  Most importantly, it was designed just enough that we could insert ourselves into the space.  This allowed us to incorporate photographs of family wedding portraits around the house so people could happen upon them while walking around. Although decoration was minimal, the guests were each given handmade ceramic pots I made in studio back in Philadelphia planted with succulents.  Brendan and I typed everyone’s name to place on a bamboo skewer so the pots doubled as place markers for the reception seating.  The best part about these gifts is getting to see them in their homes when we visit our friends and family and noticing how much bigger each one gets.

From Redfield PhotographyThe wedding of our friends Julianne and Brendan was one of the most special and incredible weekends of the season. I originally met Julie at my first job, post college, where she was one of my many boss-like figures. Her officiant (and my life-long best friend) Robin, met at the same job and had worked together for a few years prior. When we were asked to photograph and Robin was asked to officiate, I knew this wedding was going to be special in ways I’ve never experienced. Julianne and Brendan are two of the most talented, genuine and all around good people we know. Their wedding was intimate and emotional, filled with their closest friends and family who traveled from all over the country to celebrate. Their reception was the perfect blend of a dinner and dance party. The entire day, from start to finish, was filled with so much love.
