Let’s discuss stunning brides for a moment, shall we? Because this lovely Sydney Mrs.? She’s gorgeous in every which way with a beyond beautiful Luomo Designs gown, sweet Diana Ferrari peep toes and a smile that would brighten any room, no matter the size. Makes sense, really, since the wedding she put together with her dashing Mr. was downright amazing and chock-full of personal details in every nook and cranny. It’s the kind of day we call all caps PRETTY and you can see every moment captured by Sally Flegg in the full gallery.
From the Bride… In planning our wedding, the most important thing was to have a relaxed, intimate wedding, celebrating with close friends and family. We did not want a wedding that was too “formal” but still wanted to have the wedding itself to be memorable and special for all of those involved. We got married in October, it was a beautiful spring wedding, set with the backdrop of Sydney’s iconic harbour. The sun was shining through the trees, casting shadows of light upon us as we said our vows underneath a magnificent oak tree in Sydney’s botanical gardens. We wanted a wedding that was relaxed yet still stylish. Despite being married on the harbour, we did not want the harbour bridge and Opera house to feature heavily in our photos, instead, as you will see in the photos, you will only catch a glimpse.
Our bridesmaids wore white, the same shade as me, however all dresses were a different style in keeping with their body shapes. We did not want standard button holes for the groomsman, instead we went with something more original- berries and lambs ears.
After the ceremony we moved to the lower foreshore where the guests could enjoy and uninterrupted view of the harbour and enjoy a dumpling bar. Hand made dumplings of all different kinds which were served with champagne. The signs you see in the photos are made by myself and painted by myself.
The reception was held in the botanical gardens restaurant. It was magical, almost as though you were perched in the trees, there were no windows surrounding the restaurant which made you feel as though you were having a tree top wedding. The balcony surrounding the restaurant was covered with wisteria and fairy lights, creating the feel of the “outside brought in” and extending our garden theme.
The tables had their own little personalised touches. I made the candles, using mason jars and cream wax, the table numbers were pictures of my husband and I as babies. Each place card was a glass test tube with a bow, to resemble my work as a doctor. Instead gifts for the guests, we donated money in each guests name to the cancer council in memory of my grandfather. I collected old glass bottles, placing one on each table and filled them with flowers. The last touch were succulents potted in small white pots which I painted white. All of the decorations were done by myself and my husband.
The cake was made by my mother in law and decorated with flowers by the florist. Instead of desert we had a desert buffet. We had pictures of our parents and their parents on their wedding day to acknowledge how important our family have been in modelling a loving, happy marriage. I decorated an old vintage suitcase for people to place cards in.
