From the Bride... Though we knew next to nothing about wedding planning when we first got engaged, we wanted to make sure that it reflected our love of good food and a good party, and that it wasn't too stuffy or overly traditional. We found exactly what we were looking for at SmogShoppe, which is the perfect balance of elegant and casual.

We wanted to reduce as much planning stress as possible, so we were happy to find that SmogShoppe offered a great list of talented preferred vendors, including our caterer and florist. The florists were even involved in installing the famous green wall in SmogShoppe, so they were the perfect sources to make our vision of a colorful, casual floral scheme come to life. We knew we wanted bright pinks and oranges to balance out the greens and neutrals in the venue, and we loved that they used antique vases and varying heights and kinds of arrangements at the tables. The one thing I knew for sure was that I wanted a huge pink peony bridal bouquet to go with my fuchsia wedding shoes, and they made that happen as well.

As for the caterers, we didn't have a specific type of food in mind, but it was really important to us that the food be unpretentious and really delicious. They helped us come up with a great family style menu (the miso cod was a huge hit). We also decided that we wanted wedding pies instead of a wedding cake, and Huntington prepared them for us as well, not batting an eye when we said we wanted banana cream, peach, AND fresh strawberry pies to embrace the great summer fruits that were in season for our July wedding.

The best parts of the wedding came from the DIY elements we threw in. The heart-shaped fan programs, for example, were made at home using a template from hellolucky.com and the guests loved that they could use them in the sun during our ceremony and as props in our photo booth later at night. We also have some amazingly artistic friends who volunteered to create a beautiful cocktail menu listing our two featured cocktails named after the bride and groom, as well as a gorgeous (and huge) table seating chart, where each of the tables was named after a concert that we attended together. They looked so professional and added a unique touch to the party that I know no one else will have!
