From Thorson Photography... Elene & Linden got married on the most popular date of the year 10/11/12 in the rose gardens at Old Parliament House. They did things a little bit differently and had photos first, then the ceremony/reception in the gardens, then the Family went to Rubicon for dinner and then the night finished off with everyone partying at Civic Pub. It was a great day!

Elene was set on putting her own touch on as many elements of the wedding as possible. The gardens were strung with pretty doily bunting that had been lovingly made by Elene's Mother and Grandmother (or Yia Yia in Greek). Aside from the natural blooms, collected assorted jars decorated tables and hung from aisle chairs (with baker's twine) filled with gorgeous soft roses from a step-Aunt's garden. As both Linden and Elene are vegetarian, so was the catering. Elene even made vegan cupcakes the night beforehand (brave!) Elene is Greek-Australian, so the ceremony included a traditional Greek stefana (wedding crown) ceremony where the wedding crowns symbolise the glory and honour that is being bestowed on them by God, and the ribbon symbolises their unity. As such, the crowns were hand-made by a close family member, Monique, who wove them from threads that run through the entire stefana to symbolise the couple's connection. Good friends made up a big batch of Pimms cocktail which was dispensed through a mason jar style drinks dispenser. The couple asked guests to RSVP with their favourite love songs, which were played through an iPod/speaker throughout the garden reception, and guests danced under the shade of a big tree.

After a beautiful afternoon in the gardens, the couple and a small group of close family and friends shared an a la carte dinner at Rubicon Restaurant under a ceiling of fairy lights.

The day finished off with a night on the town. Awaiting the couple at Civic Pub (after a few hiccups) were a gaggle of their friends who helped the couple to celebrate and dance the night away.
