When you and your Mr. happen to be avid skiers that were engaged on a ski trip to Canada, choosing a ski resort to host your nuptials pretty much NEEDS to happen. Which is why these two sweeties opted to host their Big Day at The Ritz Carlton in gorgeous Lake Tahoe, aka, a snowy mountain paradise of rustic goodness and breathtaking views. Even better? They opted for a fabulous outdoor ceremony, complete with snowbirds enjoying the slopes behind them and Brett & Emily Photographers capturing all of the pretty. From the Bride… One of our favorite activities together is snow skiing and we even got engaged while skiing at Whistler/Blackcomb in Canada the previous year. We knew we wanted to keep the ski theme going for the wedding and decided to get married right on a ski resort! It was so fun to have skiers and snowboards whizzing by during the ceremony to bring our love story full circle! Our wedding day turned out beautiful with blue sky and a little snow on the mountain. Although very cold, the weather didn’t turn us away from having our ceremony on the outdoor patio; it was just too beautiful. Greg and I did not see each other before the ceremony so I wanted to be sure to show off my (strapless) dress when I walked down the aisle, I really didn’t notice the cold at all until it was time to exchange rings and I realized my fingers were frozen, so I was happy my maid of honor was there with my grandmother’s fur stole. We wrote our own vows so the ceremony was full of lots of laughs and tears; it was my favorite part of the whole day. It was important to us that the reception felt like a big party, so we spent most of our time on the dance floor with all of our friends, unless we were dancing in the photo booth – which also was packed full of ski themed props!
