We love seeing all the fabulous wedding traditions of other cultures here at SMP and this gorgeous Pakistani wedding is certainly no exception. Filled with bold, beautiful colors, amazing gold jewelry, and not to mention some seriously stunning henna, this wedding has us gasping at all its beauty. Brooke Roberts Photography captured all the festivities and you can see it all unfold right here in full gallery.

From Brooke Roberts Photography… Eva and Danny’s fusion wedding in Savannah Georgia was full of dramatic contrasts. A stunning Ismaili wedding full of bright colors and textures held inside an ultra contemporary modern art museum in one of the most well known historic cities of the south. In a city steeped with tradition, framed by classic southern architecture and spanish moss draped squares the Savannah Telfair Museum Jepson Center rises up in the middle of the city. It’s towering glass ceiling and stark white walls and floors was the perfect backdrop for this radiant wedding celebration.

Pakistani weddings are full of tradition and can last for many days. Eva and Danny’s wedding started with the henna decoration (Mehndi Ceremony) and the cleansing ceremony (Pithi Ceremony) the evening prior to the ceremony. The wedding ceremony was also filled with many rituals that included participation of their guests. Laughter filled the room as the bride and groom searched in a basket filled with rice to find a tiny coin that had been hidden. A female cousin of the groom wrapped the couple in shawls and tied the ends together until the best man was able to produce enough cash and she was satisfied to let the marriage proceed.

Eva wore a traditional Pakistani saree as did all of her bridesmaids. The brightly colored material was beautifully embroidered and paired with heavy gold jewelry. The Groom and groomsmen opted for more western inspired suits rather than the traditional sehra and turban.

The ceremony was held in the soaring three story atrium of the jepson Center framed with massive windows overlooking Telfair Square. After the ceremony, cocktails were served on the third floor outdoor sculpture terrace while the atrium was prepared for the reception. The rich aroma of curry filled the hall as a traditional feast was laid out for the guests to enjoy as the bride did a quick change for the new couple to be re-introduced.
