From Heather Cook Elliott Photography... Lacey & Scott live in Chicago but decided to trade their adopted big city skyline for a little old world glitz in Milwaukee. They wanted a light and airy day, full of romantic details and fun, with just a touch of tradition so they mixed grecian-inspired bridesmaid dresses with the kind of glamour only a blush colored wedding gown can speak of. Lacey started the day in that absolutely breathtaking blush colored Monique Luillier ensemble that is easily my favorite wedding dress of the year and ended the night in a traditional red Chinese dress in honor of Scott’s Chinese heritage. Along the way she was accompanied by bridesmaids dressed in white, a reversal of tradition that somehow comes off brilliantly when styled with romantic bangles, head pieces, statement earrings and soft pink, white and black florals.

I asked her how she came to the decision to style her day in such a bold yet softly romantic way. She replied that she was set on blush and white for her color story, but couldn't find the perfect white wedding gown. On a lark she tried on the blush dress to sort of cleanse her bridal palette and she fell in love. And so did her mom and best friends who agreed to wear white for her.

On the wedding day Lacey & Scott skirted from the majesty of the grand Pfister Hotel along the city's main avenue to an intimate ceremony at a stone and wood church on Milwaukee’s East Side. Scott and Lacey exited in style in a vintage Porsche from her dad’s collection. Petite and white, the car took them to Lake Park’s lighthouse where a few moments alone preceded a perfect reception at The Grain Exchange with its soaring painted tapestries and gilded architecture. We captured their day in all its blushing perfection and were captivated by a little tag on Lacey’s Chinese evening dress. It read: Double Happiness Scott & Lacey. So true.
