San Luis Obispo Wedding from Bluephoto

As a bride who thrifted + crafted for her own big day, I have a soft spot in my heart for a couple who DIYs to create their dream wedding. And this fête from Bluephoto at the kitschy (+ oh-so-cool) Flying Caballos is the perfect example of what months of antiquing, sewing + collecting can produce! Throw in some top-notch vendors and a gorgeous California day, and the result? Simply amazing. See it all here!

From the Bride… I worked so hard to pull together with the help of my sister and maid of honor, whom I lovingly referred to as “MOH-zilla,” as well as wonderful now-husband. He’s wonderful because, let’s face it, a guy can only hear about burlap and mason jars so many times. After my first search of a beach wedding, I realized how quickly that was just not me. I wanted a backyard DIY wedding, and once I found Flying Caballos, I knew it was the place. So began the countless trips to the Pasadena flea market and antique stores — yay! We also wanted to make sure we kept our heritage and our faith. That ended up translating into a cigar roller for my Cuban side, and for his Mexican side, a Mariachi band. I did all the burlap tables runners, the burlap signs, and various decorations were my own as well. This meant lots of trips to downtown LA as well. We used a vintage typewriter from eBay as our guest book, and the vintage sewing table it sat on was a flea market find. I spent months collecting the skeleton keys for the escort cards, something the groom was totally in love with. We both have a love for all things vintage, and I think we were able to show that in our wedding.
