Memphis Garden Wedding from Annabella Charles Photography

A city girl with Memphis roots knew that beyond those blaring lights existed a place bursting with southern charm and hospitality. This destination wedding captured by Annabella Charles Photography transported Kaydee, Ryan, and their loved ones to a town where they could stop for a New York Minute and smell the lush garden roses and a few peonies too. Take a peek in the gallery to see even more of the hand made details tucked away in this garden affair.

From the Bride… I was born in Memphis but did not grow up there. Every year I visited family for the holidays and developed a fondness for Memphis, this magical, charming city I could never get enough of. Living in New York City, I knew when the time came that I wanted a destination Southern wedding in Memphis, and it would need to be a weekend for my NYC friends to remember. With the help of a graphic designer friend, Etsy and a lot of family elbow grease we produced everything from an infographic about the guests, to guitar-toting tour guides on the buses to the reception, to a sentimental first dance song of my grandfather’s sung by my uncle (the bride’s uncle is Steve Selvidge, a member of The Hold Steady and her grandfather Sid Selvidge is also a well known local musician). In the end, our wedding was a balance of rustic charm and modern beauty, much like Memphis itself.

One thing that perfectly describes our wedding day: Our Wedding Guest Infographic! It was a unique way to recognize our guests, provide a good conversation starter and it reflected the importance of humor in Ryan and I’s relationship. And we couldn’t have known how true it would ring at the time we created it. The Infographic mentions that there are 4 doctors in attendance just in case of a dance floor injury. Well, Ryan’s mom fell and broke her wrist the night of the rehearsal dinner so my uncle who is a doctor did indeed have to shuttle her to the Emergency Room! With his help, my soon to be mother-in-law was able to make most of the rehearsal dinner which she had painstakingly planned. At the wedding the following day she proudly donned her corsage on her sling, taking everything in stride.
