Kansas Engagement Session from Alea Lovely

When beautiful images by Alea Lovely Fine Art Photography skip into my inbox, I’m a happy girl. We’re talking fields as far as the eye can see and the sweetest engagement session that also has a whole lot of soul. That soul is a layer of family heirlooms folded into the images by Alea Lovely and a couple that are crazy about each other. And it shows. One look at the full gallery and a reading of the Groom-to-Be’s description and you’ll be crazy for this couple too.

From Alea Lovely Fine Art PhotographyThe great part about this engagement session is that Lizzie brought her grandparent’s working Victrola and they actually played it while they were dancing in the field. The music sounded amazing being played the way they played it many years ago.

From the Groom… Lizzie & I met at a wedding. It was her best friend’s wedding, and I was the photographer. We had heard of each other, and had aptly checked each other out on various social media, but had never officially met. So we smiled at each other, watched either closely… I took pictures of her, and she showed me her dance moves. Awfully fitting, in retrospect. It wasn’t until a few weeks later that we were able to go on a proper date, and here we are over two years later. I still take pictures of her pretty face nearly every day amidst her scoffs and head-shakes.

Our family are the dearest folks to us, so from early in the planning process we wanted to incorporate them in various ways into our wedding day, and even our engagement photos. Lizzie’s great grandmother Frances passed down the shoes she wore on her wedding day, along with the coolest old Victor Victrola — which still works great — so those were no-brainers. We hauled the Victrola into the middle of a field near my folks’ house under a tall cedar tree, wound it up, danced, and things came together from there.
