Brisbane Racing Club Wedding from Sugarblush Photography

I love you Australians. You really know how to tie the knot in style and there are always a few elements that take it from great to downright fantastic. Take this wedding from Sugarblush Photography for example. Two friends turned lovebirds turned newlyweds celebrate at The Tote Room — Eagle Farm at Brisbane Racing Club with DIY details aplenty by the bride, including a table runner that will make you gasp in awe at its loveliness. And that’s only skimming the surface, so head straight to the gallery right here.

From the Bride… Dan and I met each other at university and were friends for many years before we started dating. We had been together for five years when he proposed. We were spending a weekend away on the Sunshine Coast, and he popped the question at a beautiful lookout in the National Park. We were married 10 months later in the chapel where Dan went to high school. My cousins played guitar and sang throughout the ceremony as well as for our first dance – it was so special. For the reception, we wanted to find a space with a bit of soul and we found this in “The Tote” – a beautiful old room at Eagle Farm racecourse in Brisbane. The length of the room allowed us to have all of our 100 guests sitting at one long banquet table, which made it feel like a big dinner party.

I styled the venue myself and both Dan and I handmade the bonbonnieres — little ceramic heart magnets imprinted with our names and the date. We then placed them in handmade boxes from the pages of vintage children’s books. We love visiting friends and seeing our little hearts proudly displayed in their kitchens. My favorite moment of the day was when Dan and I entered the reception and surprised our guests by running down each side of the long banquet table and high-fiving everyone.  It really set the tone for the fun evening ahead! In fact, Dan and I had our cab cancelled at the end of the night because we were having too much fun to leave the party!

We found our amazing photographers through none other than Style Me Pretty after I stumbled upon an engagement shoot of friends of ours. They captured our day so beautifully, and we feel very fortunate to have found them. It was truly an amazing day, and we are so grateful to have been able to share it with such wonderful and supportive friends and family!
