Westerly Wedding at The Misquamicut Club from Meghan Sepe Photography

Sometimes it’s the unexpected things that make your wedding day unforgettable…like the crazy cold front that blew in just before this fabulous beach ceremony. But this fun loving bride totally rolled with the punches and her officiant asked everyone in attendance to huddle around the couple, keeping them warm and surrounding them with love while they said their I Do’s. And if that’s not unforgettable, I don’t know what is. Meghan Sepe Photography captured the day perfectly. See it all right here.

From Meghan Sepe PhotographySteph and Jonathan were married at the beautiful Misquamicut Club in Westerly, Rhode Island. I knew I would click with this bride the moment she called and asked to meet up and “have a drink or two at the club, hang out on the beach and talk wedding stuff.” Yes, please! She was a riot (as you can see with her putting her dress on right in the open back yard, no shame, goofing off) and totally relaxed the entire time.

The day of the wedding, we got beautiful weather right up until leaving for the ceremony, when an impending storm decided to show up, unfortunately right on time, as the reports said it would. We didn’t get rain, but a cold snap, high winds at the beach and rolling fog changed the scene from a peaceful warm, sunny beach to a moody, overcast setting. It all worked out beautifully though — the officiant (and long-time friend of the couple) asked all in attendance to crowd in and gather around the couple, rise from their seats and create a cozy huddle to stay warm and hear the words of the ceremony. It was totally impromptu and created a lovely family feeling, with everyone as close as can be.

Although the fog and overcast skies followed us to the reception, it was secondary to the incredibly fun and laid back night that followed. The band (will get name upon request) was AWESOME. The bride’s bouquet was made by the bride herself — a collection of pins, baubles and jewelry that all belonged to her mother, who passed away when Stephanie was a little girl. At some of the tables, under the arrangements, lay small tapestries, which were made by women in a Thai village that Steph volunteered in earlier in the year. There, she and others helped the women in the village make small bags, tapestries and other batik items to sell to support their village. The trip and those relationships she made are very much part of her life now.
