Jessica Burke is as sweet and lovely as they come and to see a wedding unfold through her camera lens is like watching an uber romantic film, complete with a happily ever after. Each and every time. From the Bride… When Danny and I got engaged we knew we wanted to have a wine country wedding. Sonoma has always been a favorite destination throughout our relationship, a meaningful place where we have celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries. It was a natural choice that we would celebrate our marriage here and share this beautiful place with our wedding guests.
When envisioning our wedding day, Danny and I both agreed we wanted the wedding to be a fun celebration uniting our closest friends and family. With that in mind, we chose Gundlach Bundschu winery for our ceremony, overlooking Sonoma vineyards. Our guests were ushered through a long wine cave, where they were greeted with a glass of wine at the end to get them into the wine country spirit. Danny and I wrote our own vows, and my mother read “The Art of Marriage,” making our ceremony personal and special to us.
After the ceremony our guests moved on to our reception site at Ramekins Culinary School in downtown Sonoma, where they sipped on signature cocktails from our favorite SF bar. We wanted the décor to be casual but elegant. My mom and I spent months collecting lots of mercury glass while our florist, Lauren Williams, executed my floral ideas perfectly, including varieties of garden roses, dahlias, ranunculus, and dusty miller. Danny became our graphic designer, creating all of the programs, menus, and signs. We couldn’t have been happier about how our vision became reality. Our Cigar Bar was a big hit with our guests, and our DJ (Sam Isaac) kept guests dancing all night. But perhaps our favorite part of the night was being surrounded by all our guests on the dance floor while everyone sang to “Piano Man” closing out a wonderful night. The day was captured by the photography of Jessica Burke and the images captured all of the beauty and emotion of the day. Our wedding day was amazing! We couldn’t have asked for a better way to start our lives together, surrounded by our favorite people in the world on the most special day of our lives.
