Connecticut Castle Wedding from Scobey Photography

Envisioning a classic Old Hollywood theme for their wedding day, this couple stumbled upon Saint Clements Castle and when the only open date for the following summer happened to be the groom’s birthday and the exact date of their engagement…well, it was simply meant to be!  Once the venue was set, the details fell into place from the bold florals to the bride’s stunning White by Vera Wang gown. From The Bride… We live in NYC and envisioned a classic, old Hollywood-type theme wedding with a red, white and black color scheme and damask pattern. We originally wanted to have our wedding in Manhattan, however, when we started looking at venues, we just couldn’t find something that fit our vision. We heard about a beautiful castle in Connecticut from our good friend (and best man), and seeing as it was exactly between our families in Boston and in New York, our interests were piqued. Seeing Saint Clements Castle for the first time, we were speechless. A breathtaking Tudor-style building situated on a vast green lawn overlooking the Connecticut River — it was perfect. Even more perfect was the fact that the only date available that following summer was the exact date of our engagement and also Brian’s birthday. It was fate!

After finding our ideal location, everything else just seemed to fall into place, from booking our band and making our invitations to finding our amazing photographers. From assembling our DIY decorations to writing our own vows. From purchasing my wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses to picking out the tuxes. Our planning not only went fairly smoothly, but it was something we were able to do together as a team.  A major goal of ours was to not only share our special day with as many of our closest friends and family members as possible but to also throw as kick-ass of a reception as possible! We wanted everyone to help us celebrate becoming husband and wife by singing and dancing the night away which I can say, without a doubt, was definitely accomplished.

The whole day was an absolute dream. Having the love and support of our friends and families was overwhelming and meant everything to us; it truly made our day as magical as we had hoped it would be.
