This wedding is what drop dead gorgeous dreams are made of. Pretty pinks and creamy whites, flower girls in tutus, and little bits of gold here and there. We couldn’t be more obsessed with the sparkling art deco chandeliers and that to die for aisle style. It’s elegant and timeless and exactly what the bride envisioned for her big day. From the Bride… I knew I wanted a classic, timeless wedding. Since that broad description could be interpreted in many ways, the venue truly dictated the style of the occasion. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion was the perfect location for us. Aside from the beautiful Art Deco elements that spoke to me as an interior designer, the Los Angeles Music Center holds a special place in my heart. My maternal grandparents are founders there, my mom worked in PR there right before I was born, and I have the best memories of going to The Nutcracker and various ballets there, running through the iconic fountains outside with my sister in our party dresses as children. Its downtown location boded well for the majority of our family and friends who live in the Los Angeles area, and the urban vibe set the stage for a truly spectacular affair.
Since the venue was so grand, I knew we had to adorn it beautifully without going over-the-top. I wanted the wedding to feel warm and welcoming. I decided on a soft, elegant color scheme of white, ivory, champagne and blush tones. The flowers were mostly white, but we added hints of pink here and there. I never grew out of my 5-year-old ballet pink phase! The bridesmaids wore short, champagne-colored dresses, ivory shoes and carried luscious bouquets of soft pink roses and hydrangeas. The groomsmen wore champagne-colored ties and argyle socks, which added a touch of whimsy :) The centerpieces were surrounded by bud vases holding white tulips, rose petals and gold leaf votives. My favorite flowers are pink peonies, and although they weren’t available in August, our amazing coordinator, Trisha of Hidden Garden Flowers, made sure to fill my bouquet with ruffly pink and white garden roses that looked strikingly similar to peonies! And Andrea of Superfine Bakery crafted incredibly realistic sugar peonies to decorate the five-tier cake.
One of my favorite aspects of the wedding was the look for my sweet flower girls. I had a specific vision for our little cousins — the two older girls would wear romantic champagne tutus, and the two younger girls would wear pale pink tutus. The skirts were paired with simple white, short-sleeved leotards and they walked down the aisle to “Waltz of the Flowers,” which was the perfect nod to my ballet years. Thanks for the great musical suggestion, Uncle Robby! Robby owns the incredible Spotlight Music and provided us with the most exquisite music all night. The best part of our wedding for both David and me was to be surrounded by our family and friends. And, of course, to simply marry each other! Holding hands and looking out at everyone from underneath the Chuppah was just so special. The Ketubah signing before the ceremony was emotional and wonderful for both of us as well. We felt so lucky to be able to share the day, traditions and festivities with our closest family and friends.
