From the Bride… Kiawah Island, South Carolina has always been a special place to my family over the years and has since become the same to my new husband. It is a magical place that embraces nature to the utmost degree and contains beauty on all levels. Even though my family has owned a summer home there for over 20 years, none of our family or friends have made the trip to experience the magic. This was our one chance to demonstrate why we love this island — and we only had a short amount of time to do it. By embracing all that Kiawah Island has to offer and embellishing on the natural beauty that already exists, I believe we wowed our guests with an elegant wedding that made them instantly love the place that means so much to us. It was an honor to share such a special place and experience with the people we love, and our wedding turned out more beautiful than we ever imagined.

After a Thursday night welcome dinner on the beach and a Friday night rehearsal dinner on the pier, Saturday’s festivities were held at the Cassique Clubhouse of the Kiawah Island Club.  It is a gorgeous venue — our cocktail hour was held in the beautiful English gardens courtyard while dinner and dancing continued in the tent.  This enabled us to truly embrace the outdoor feel in an elegant manner.

We LOVED our printed materials and went a bit crazy for the weekend… our “logo” of the sand crab was carried throughout.  Our invites were letter pressed on thick paper and encompassed the marsh surroundings and beachy feel. On my bouquet was a locket my grandfather gave to his mother when he served in the Navy.  Inside were the wedding photos of both my grandparents, none of which were able to attend. Our cocktail napkins were a spin on the traditional version with a quote from the groom’s brother’s band! We had a Charleston Chew-themed kids’ table to represent the nearby city of Charleston! It was also equipped with DIY activity books. In lieu of a cake, we had bite-sized desserts to grab while dancing and Chinese to-go boxes for the after party. We also provided late-night snacks of brandy milkshakes.
