New York will forever be one of my favorites. It has this uncanny way of hosting everything from a full on contemporary affair to beautifully vintage without skipping a beat. This particular wedding reception is modern through and through; a celebration of the marriage of two graphic designers who wed in Seoul and later celebrated with friends and family at TriBeCa eatery, JUNGSIK. And with the imagery from Jacob Arthur Photography and even more in the full gallery, there is plenty to adore. Get ready for NYC, Vera Wang and Yves Saint Laurent all mashed up into one elegant party.
From the Bride… We met four years ago at RISD, where we were both pursuing our passions in Graphic Design, Hoon in the grad program and Erica in undergrad. We both moved to NYC after graduation, and saw our lives together blossoming in this city of culture and life.
We wanted an intimate affair with our closest friends and family, since we were having our wedding ceremony a week after in our home city of Seoul. Our wedding reception was held at JUNGSIK in TriBeCa. It is a New Korean fine-dining restaurant which was perfect because Hoon actually did the branding for the restaurant when it opened. We even branded our own wedding, naming it Erica Meets Me and designed our invitations and stationery based on it. For the color theme, we chose whites, ivories, and grays to portray a clean, modern, and chic affair. Little touches made the night really special, such as the signature cocktail being the “Yugin” (was an existing drink at the restaurant because one of the ingredients is gin), but was also a play on my name Yujin. We also had a card and pen presented in front of each guest so they could each write us a note, which we would then make into our own guestbook.
We were so happy because we feel our wedding really captured who we are as people, as well as who we are together as a couple. Because the event was so intimate, all the people most special to us were able to get to know each other and enjoy each other’s company, which meant the world to us. This was truly one day that we will never forget.
