Boston Wedding at The State Room from Kelly Dillon Photography

The first word that comes to mind when I think about this wedding from Kelly Dillon Photography is chic. The top bun, that tulle-for-days gown from Vera Wang, and the eternally dapper backdrop of downtown Boston are just the right elements to make a wedding so clean, colorful, and all around pretty that will truly blow you away. And you can’t miss the breathtaking views of the Boston Harbor from The State Room all in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… The story of how Jonathan and I met varies depending on which one of us you ask! He recalls being introduced to me through a friend one afternoon during a brief lunch break in between classes at our alma mater, George Mason University, which is located in the Washington DC area. I remember seeing him around campus but never really meeting him until after we graduated and both ended up at the same bar one evening in Georgetown. It was that night that we were formally introduced by mutual friends and spent hours discussing our desire to travel and our complete disinterest in settling down! Ha! Little did we know that we would be married five years later!

Jonathan and I have a love for really good wine. An expensive hobby, but we truly enjoy together traveling all over the country visiting some of the most beautiful vineyards together. It was on our four-year anniversary that Jonathan proposed to me at Three Fox Vineyards, a favorite local winery of ours perched on top of rolling hills in the heart of Virginia. It had been a dreary day, but the minute we set foot on the vineyard to celebrate our anniversary, the clouds parted, the sun peeked through and a rainbow shown overhead (I kid you not!). I’m not a very mushy person, but in that moment, everything felt right, and I knew then that I was meant to be with this man forever.

Jonathan is Lebanese but was born and raised in the Washington DC area. His parents were born in Lebanon, and his family remains deeply rooted to their heritage and culture. I was raised in Massachusetts, but my interest in experiencing a new city brought me down to DC for college and eventually turned into my new home. However, my heart will always remain loyal to New England. When we began discussing the type of wedding we wanted, we agreed on a classic affair that would not only tie in Jonathan’s bond to his heritage but also bring our wide-spread families and friends together from all over the globe. We immediately agreed to have a fall wedding in Boston, as the crisp weather and beautiful foliage made the perfect backdrop! And after falling in love with The State Room for our wedding reception location, we knew the picturesque view of the Boston Harbor from the 33rd floor of the venue would be absolutely breath taking in the fall.

Planning a wedding in Boston from Washington DC seemed tricky, so we hired event planner Alexis Eliopoulos O’Mara from Unique Weddings by Alexis, who truly was our saving grace during the entire process! With Boston as our backdrop, we decided to tie the city into our theme. Alexis’ team, as well as the fantastic staff at The State Room, helped us execute our vision of a “classic city wedding” perfectly. We said our vows during a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in south Boston and danced the night away to Boston’s Kahootz band with the gorgeous Boston Harbor as our backdrop! The day was a dream and everything we could have imagined, and having the fabulous Kelly Dillon there to capture every single moment for us to remember forever made it all that more special!
