So many personal touches went into this visually gorgeous and traditional Indian ceremony, we’re not even sure where to begin. Do we start with the unbelievable jasmine garlands that were made to greet all the ladies at the wedding? Or the 1,001 gold cranes that were folded and placed throughout the ceremony and reception? Not to mention the brides stunning dress and henna. There’s not one, but two spectacular weddings to dive into here and lucky for us, J’adore Love was on hand for both. From Milestone Events by Kristy… Frank Alexander did all the flowers and table design as well as American ceremony design. All the Indian decor and ceremony was from Abhishek Decorators. The color was actually stemmed from the bride’s favorite dress. She was looking for an elegant palette of gold and ivory but wanted a pop of color that matched a watermelon-colored dress in her closet. It was always funny when talking about the color because we went back and forth on what the actual color would be when trying to match the dress since it wasn’t actually red or orange or fuchsia. What was most important in the color was embodying summer. Since the bride is both Indian and Japanese, some personal touches were the jasmine garlands we had made to greet all the ladies to the Indian ceremony as well as 1,001 homemade gold cranes. The cranes were placed throughout the venue as well as each place setting. I also loved the escort card tree that Frank Alexander made for guests to be wowed by when finding their escort card.
From the Bride… Rakhesh was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. Rana was born in Arizona and grew up in southern California. Though we both were raised on opposite coasts, somehow fate had us run into each other. We met at the hospital where Rakhesh was in his last year of the general surgery program and I was beginning my first year in emergency medicine; I was rotating through general surgery in the begining of my intern year. It was evident early on that our relationship was headed towards a long future, and neither of us can imagine not having the other nearby. Rakhesh waited until my parents had flown into town before he proposed in the middle of Columbus Circle NY, a favorite hangout for the two of us and where many of our first dates took place. Currently, I am approaching the end of my second year of my emergency medicine residency, and Rakhesh is nearing the end of his first year in his plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship. Which coast we eventually will end up calling home is still in question, but as long as we are together, that’s home for us.
