Pennsylvania Engagement + Wedding from Brooke Courtney Photography

This couple has seriously stolen my heart. I’m in love with them for so many different reasons, but mainly because they seem to be the type of people you just want to bestie up with. I say all of this because their heartfelt, woodland nuptials have me trying to dig up adjectives worthy of their sweet ceremony and cozy reception – but I keep falling short of words that will really do it all justice. Thankfully, the images from Brooke Courtney Photography speak for themselves…and you can catch them all right here

Can’t get enough of that adorable duo? Well I couldn’t either – so here is peek at their seriously gorgeous engagement pics from Brooke Courtney Photography. This couple couldn’t be cuter if they tried.

From Brooke Courtney PhotographyKara’s all-time, hands down, favorite movie is What About Bob. (Which in my book, instantly makes Kara and me a little closer to becoming best friends.) For his proposal to Kara, Phil researched and researched until he found the lake house that was used in the movie at “Lake Winnipesaukee.” Phil told Kara not to book anything for a certain day, took her on a road trip, and they ended up taking a little tour of the lake house. It was there, on the dock, that Phil asked Kara to spend the rest of her life with him. While telling us their propsoal story, Kara said that she was already pretty emotional getting to see the lake house and property where the movie was filmed, so when Phil popped the question, it was simply over-the-top amazing. What an awesome story for a couple that deserves all things good and wonderful.

From the Bride… We met at a two-year ministry school in Mechanicsburg. A one-year friendship led into romance. It kind of hit us over the head when we realized, “I’ve always been attracted to this person, thought they were funny, love their heart for Jesus and always want to be around them.” We are creative people who love to have a good time. Our sense of humor is definitely what brought us together as friends.

I went to a wedding at the J. Edward Mack Boy Scout Preservation two years ago and fell.in.love with it! I knew I wanted to get married there even if that meant waiting 10 more years for the right guy to come along. Fortunately, I found Phil. My inspiration was a rustic, woodsy, vintage feel. I checked out a bunch of blogs and took some of their ideas, but 90% of the ideas were my own from just from thinking of stuff over the years and writing it down. I went thrifting and found a unique plate for every person at the wedding. I made the boutonnieres and corsages from succulents and we had non-traditional Greek food with baklava instead of cake.  I wore my mom’s dress, which was altered from the waist up to fit me, as well as a flower crown. All of the “flowers” were things I found in fields and on the side of the road and dried. We collected driftwood pieces (large and small) from the bay and then drilled holes in them using a drill bit in the shape of a tealight. They were also part of the décor.

My favorite memory was walking down the aisle seeing Philip in his suit and bow tie for the first time. Philip says, “Leaving.”  Hahahaha.
