There’s something so sweet about taking an ordinary place and making it super special. And that’s exactly what this groom-to-be did. He got down on one knee during a regular run with his pretty bride-to-be and asked her to marry him. And so they returned to that very spot along with Cassandra Eldridge Photography and a cute DIY save the date banner to document their engagement. Adorable, right?! See it all right here.

From Cassandra Eldridge Photography… When I asked Kate what she loves most about her future hubby, she said, “I love that he inspires me to be the best person I can be. He’s constantly challenging me, and he’s such a hard worker. Always putting 110% effort into everything he does. His hard work motivates me to do the same. I love how I am constantly laughing when I’m around him. I’m just a happier person when he’s around, and I think that’s the most important thing there is.”
When I asked Gary, he said,“I love her infectious smile and her intelligence. I love her drive for success and her ability to laugh at my stupid jokes. Her competitive nature, and most importantly, how compassionate and caring she is.”
I spent two amazing hours with Kate and Gary. Walking through their neighborhood in the South Loop of Chicago, talking about their past journeys together and all that’s to come next May when they exchange their vows. I walked with them through the trails of Northerly Island, the same place where Gary got down on one knee in the middle of one of the thousands of runs they’ve pushed each other on … where he asked Kate to be his wife … where he changed both of their lives forever. I walked with them and I became a witness. A witness to real, genuine love. And it goes without saying that I feel incredibly lucky to have been chosen by the two of them to document one of the most unforgettable moments in their lives. Fair warning, dear readers … this session is a heart-melter.
