Chicago Wedding at Salvage One from Jeremy Lawson Photography

My eyes need a little stretching right now because I’ve been staring at the gallery for this stunner from Jeremy Lawson Photography for just a hair over the amount of time most would consider appropriate. I mean, these images at Salvage One are some heavy lifting of gorgeousness for these little peepers and it’s all thanks to the prettiest of ruffles on this Vera Wang number paired with those swoonworthy Jimmy Choos. Effortlessly beautiful while remaining local and sustainable, Michelle Durpetti Events has coordinated this wedding to utter perfection and you can see it all in the gallery right here.

From the Bride… The moment Mark and I got engaged (on the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel, no less), we knew we wanted a city wedding. To be able to share who we are and our favorite Chicago food and locations with our family and friends was one of the most important themes to us. Our wedding featured local, organic, sustainable fare from the amazing people at City Provisions, delicious barbecue from Smoque BBQ, Garrett’s Popcorn as a late-night snack, and — most important to Mark — local craft beer and spirits.  Mark even had my engagement ring custom made in Chicago by a local jeweler, who we’ve actually become great friends with and who attended the wedding!

We wanted our wedding to have traditional elements while being fun and lighthearted. Salvage One was the perfect venue for us, mixing whimsy with art and the feel of adventure. The venue needed little embellishment, but I set to doing some DIY, including hand-sewn and stamped burlap table runners, tulle poms, escort cards, printed menus, programs, table numbers and our fun bibs with rhyming tags and two types of caramels for each guest.

One of the best parts of our wedding weekend was having four of the five bridesmaids, my best friends from college, all together again for the first time in years. The flowers, the photo booth and my dress were all great details that made our day unique, but having all the people we care about in the same room with us was truly fantastic.
