Texas Brides have a way of filling their weddings to the brim – with details, with style and with so much love. And this lovely, ok drop-dead gorgeous, Bride is no exception. Her farm fête snapped up by smitten photography is overflowing with DIYs and steal-worthy style, but the thing that jumps through the screen and grabs my heart the most is the love. There is just so much love beaming from everyone’s face (particularly from one adorable ring bearer), and that’s when you know it’s filled to the brim with all the right things. From the Bride… When beginning to plan our wedding, we knew there were a few things that we wanted to be the focus: our faith, relationships and incredible amounts of fun! We also knew that while we loved the mountains, we wanted to stay at home in Texas so that all of our family and friends could be there… We just didn’t know that would mean 400 of our family and friends! We needed a large venue that would capture the rustic feel of the mountains we love. My family already had a sweet relationship with the owners of Mainstay Farm just outside Fort Worth. and they were so willing and eager to serve us by having the reception at their family farm. We set the date for September 22. While I did have some visions of what I wanted that day to be, I am not quite creative enough to actually bring all the pieces together. Our dear friend and amazing wedding planner, Jenna Lee of Splurge Event Design, was really the heart and creative drive behind turning my little dreams into big dreams. Along the way, more dear friends would step in and offer their talents and resources to make our day possible. We had tons of DIY nights prior to the wedding to make many of the decor items we used at the wedding. Many hands went into creating burlap banners, paper garland and vintage lace lampshades, which made the reception look creative, personal and intimate. I wanted the flowers to be loose, colorful and natural. My mom’s sweet friends got together to make the bouquets, boutonnieres, and floral arrangements. Our Wedding Planner had the vision to make each table unique and vintage – mixing flowers in vases, old jars, vintage silver and all sorts of containers to capture rustic details. The tablecloths were layers of burlap, lace and vintage crocheted pieces.
My dear friend, Marissa, worked all weekend to make 400 cupcakes from 3 different recipes she created just for us. A wonderful bakery in Fort Worth, Stir Crazy Bakery, made the cakes. The dessert display was a mix of vintage cake stands, vintage scales and milk glass layered on top of a vintage dresser and two farmhouse tables. Each and every detail was so creative and so beautiful — I cannot help but smile every time I think about it! All of our printing, from Save the Dates, to our Custom Invitations, Programs and the Signs for the reception were made by our friends from Lola Lorena Social Supply. They worked endlessly to make every piece unique and perfectly fit us. On the day of the wedding, we were amazed to see it all come together. Ryan’s dad officiated our wedding. It was the sweetest, most surreal and amazing time of my life. We exchanged vows all based on scripture, kissed and were pronounced husband and wife! We spent the rest of the night celebrating at the barn with three different food trucks, the best cupcakes and cakes ever, and homemade Nestle ice cream sandwiches, which we did in place of a groom’s cake.
My dream since high school was to have Sharon Clark of Smitten Photography be my wedding photographer! She flew in the day before the wedding. I was blessed to have her joyful spirit with us that day and talented eye behind the camera. She captured everything from the tiniest details of the wedding and reception to the most breathtaking last few moments of a gorgeous Texas sunset with my new husband. It made the day so special and I am so grateful for her! Truly, this day would not have happened without hundreds of sweet people gathering around to serve us and our families. We could not have been more humbled and blessed by the journey of getting to our wedding day. It far surpassed my hopes and dreams. More than any of the things that made up our wedding day, I am so grateful to be married to my best friend and the love of my life.
