I love the color orange. You can ask anyone and they’ll tell you but I never once thought of having it as a color in my wedding and after looking at these fun images by Kelly Garvey Photography, I’m totally regretting it. From the Bride… My high school sweetheart and I married where the park meets the skyline on the Treehouse Deck of The Grove Restaurant in Downtown Houston. Located in the center of Discovery Green Park, the modern setting was softened by our vintage flair as I walked down the aisle in feathers and lace, while my groom stood waiting for me at the altar in his custom, three-piece suit. Our wedding was an intimate affair, and we were surrounded by 55 of our closest friends and family as we made our vows. A custom aisle runner parted the fanned guest seating leading to the altar, which was designed and constructed just for us by our florist’s husband. The ceremony concluded with a wine box unity ceremony where we placed inside cards that we had written to one another, promising we will read them over a bottle of wine if challenging times come our way. Two words that describe our day are “custom” and “DIY.” The bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen attire were custom-made through Knitched (on Etsy) and Indochino. The invitations, kiddo baskets, wedding favors stuffed with chocolate covered-espresso beans, and fan programs were just a few of the DIY touches of our day and made it one we will always remember!
