Backyard New Hampshire Wedding from Kate Preftakes Photography

A hot-air balloon proposal was the inspiration for this sweet-as-can-be DIY backyard wedding. The Brooklyn-based couple chose New Hampshire for it’s rustic, wooded landscape and the laid-back celebration was shot to perfection by Kate Preftakes Photography. See the rest in the full gallery!

From Kate Preftakes PhotographyRob and Laura were married at a farm in New Hampshire. They live in Brooklyn but loved the New Hampshire landscape, and it was the perfect setting for their hot air balloon-themed wedding! Rob’s proposal to Laura involved a hot air balloon, so they wanted to incorporate that into their wedding. After the ceremony, guests were able to take rides in a balloon, and it made a beautiful background for the day. This DIY wedding was the perfect mix of casual, elegant and fun!

From the Bride… About the balloon, I jokingly told Rob that whoever proposed to me would have to do it in a hot air balloon. Instead (many months later), Rob got a giant, round helium balloon tied up to look like a hot air balloon and put it in a box so big it didn’t fit in our apartment door for a Christmas gift. The ring box was in the basket, and when I opened the box, the balloon floated up. My mom suggested the actual balloon, and we thought it would be fun!
