Ontario Wedding from Hoopla Event Design and Styling

I’m always fascinated with brides who are the event and styling coordinators of their own weddings. Especially when it’s achieved as as beautifully as this next number by Hoopla Event Design and Styling. With all of the excitement and butterflies surrounding her big day, this bride pulled off a flawless event with flying colors {and feathers}! Speaking of colors, my eyes are completely transfixed on the gorgeous Pistil Flowers and perfectly mismatched bridesmaids dresses. You’ll 100% want to head to the full gallery on this one, trust me.

From Robin of Hoopla Event Design and Styling (The Bride)… Our wedding turned out exactly as I had pictured it – maybe it was because it was the vision of my event design company, Hoopla Event Design & Styling, from beginning to end! The number one goal of my wedding was to enjoy the moment and celebrate our union, but the second goal was to make sure our wedding was a well-designed event that would showcase our company’s talents.

Jesse and I were married on June 8, 2012, at Eagles Nest Golf Course in Maple, Ontario. I am an outdoorsy gal through and through, so I knew I wanted this wedding to be garden and nature-inspired, as well as have that handmade look (Hoopla’s signature style!). With the help of my business partner, Shannon, and multiple craft dates with my eight lovely bridesmaids, we were able to pull off the wedding of our dreams! We wanted our guests to take part in the theme, so everyone received a feathered boutonniere on their place setting. We also packaged up little muslin baggies full of wildflower seeds for them to plant in their gardens. I’m a huge fan of supporting our local growers and sticking with flowers within the current season, so all of our centerpieces were peonies, hosta leaves and spirea. They were placed in simple, cylindrical containers and spray-painted a shimmery gold/pink. Even though it was my wedding, Shannon and I put together all of the centerpieces. I just couldn’t give this job to anyone else — maybe it’s because of my florist background! However, I knew I couldn’t physically put together all the bouquets because of all the other stuff I was doing, so luckily my friend who owns a flower shop in Toronto was able to do all of my personal flowers. They turned out great! Going with the nature/garden theme, flowers took center stage throughout the wedding, whether they were paper stock flowers, tissue paper flowers, origami flowers or real flowers. Besides the real flowers, everything was handcrafted by me, Shannon and my bridesmaids.

Since Jesse and I are suckers for anything sweet. We wanted to make sure the dessert table was filled with everything we both loved. Our wonderful friends and family contributed treats so that there was a wide variety of yummy homemade, baked goods! One of the best parts of my wedding was that my dad was able to join us. He moved to Japan about eight years ago, and I have only seen him a handful of times since then. I knew coming to Canada for the wedding was a big trip for him to take, but it meant the world to me for him to walk me down the aisle. We wanted to make sure that a little Japanese tradition was included in the wedding – it was also the place where we got engaged! I love the idea of guests leaving well-wishes for the bride and groom, and the Japanese have a great tradition of a well-wishes origami tree. Our guests wrote their wishes for us on origami paper, folded them into a piece of origami art and hung them on a line. Not only did it look pretty, but after the wedding was said and done, we had all these motivational notes from everyone we love. Overall, I couldn’t have been happier with the way the wedding turned out. Jesse and I had the best day, and we were so happy that we got to share it with all of our family and friends.
