From the Bride… I had so much fun designing our wedding day! I wanted each detail to represent something special to us as a couple. Everyone involved in our ceremony was a close friend to us, as well as many of our vendors. Our wedding took place on a beautiful field in Valle Crucis, North Carolina. We used old windows and barn doors to create an open air chapel around our ceremony. Our guests were able to sign their names and a write a quick note to us on the bench we used as a guestbook. I wore my grandmother’s ring along with my beautiful engagement ring and an amethyst necklace and earrings given to me as a child by my parents. We said “I do” with our closest friends and family behind us and the vast NC mountains before us. My favorite moment of the day was right after our ceremony. My husband and I stole away to a hidden spot by the river and exchanged personal vows the we’d written to each other. Being able to spend our first few minutes as a married couple together was so special to us!

Our cocktail hour was all about our guests! We wanted them to laugh and play, rather than standing around and waiting for dinner to start! While we were taking pictures, our guests helped themselves to the candy bar, popcorn and cotton candy we had waiting for them. They were also able to enjoy a quick game of corn hole or bocce ball. The wedding favors, little boxes of freshly-baked cookies from our local bakery, were waiting for them on the way into the reception tent. We used paint samples to label each favor with our guests’ names and dinner table. Our tables were decorated with terrariums, freshly-cut rosemary and wooden tree slabs to create a natural, woodsy theme. The food, catered by a dear friend of mine, was delicious, and the cake was beautiful. We left underneath a shower of dried lavender that I found in my hair for days afterwards.
