Pelican Hill Wedding from Victor Sizemore Photography + Platinum Weddings by Kerrie

This bride is absolutely stunning. And her tall glass of water hubby isn’t too shabby either. Therefore, when Platinum Weddings by Kerrie sat down to plan an affair which could stand up to the beauty of the couple – who also sound as sweet as can be – she had her work cut out for her. But plan a fabulous soiree she did, and judging by Victor Sizemore Photography‘s gorgeous images, it complimented the lovely couple in the best way possible. The gallery is a whole lot of pretty, so of course, you’ll want to spend hours gazing this afternoon!

Seriously guys, this Same Day Edit from Elysium Productions is way too cute not to share…

Justin and I first met on July 11th (1 day before my birthday and 2 days after his!) My best friend and I just wanted to go out the two of us and grab a couple of drinks at a local bar and dance. I really wasn’t looking to dating anyone I was really happy being single and starting a new chapter in my life as a college grad. While my best friend and I were hanging out having a drink and enjoying good music a guy comes up to us and asks “What’s up, can I buy you two a drink.” We both looked at each other and said sure. My best friend told the guy (Justin) that it was my birthday the next day and he said no way mine was 2 days ago! We instantly had something in common and it just felt comfortable. Justin took us to his friends and I happen to know one of his friends from a bunch of college classes and another from high school…SMALL WORLD! We ended up dancing the night away together. At the end of the night he told me it would be an awesome birthday gift to get my number (haha cheesy, but so cute!) of course I gave it to him and he texted me “Had a great time with you, get home safe.” I thought that was sweet. We ended up hanging out the next day which was my birthday and the rest is history! Justin and I would talk on the phone for hours there was never an awkward silence or a dull moment. We are truly best friends. I remember telling friends that the next guy I fall in love with will be my husband and that came true!

Justin proposed on January 28th, 2011 at the Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach. His parents and my parents all knew about it! I couple weeks earlier Justin went to go see my parents behind my back and asked my Dad for my hand in marriage. I am very close with my family especially my Dad so I loved how Justin was so traditional about it!

One day Justin told me that his grandparents were going to visit from NJ. I was excited to meet them and was looking forward to their visit. A couple of months went by and Justin’s Mom emailed me that she got us a room at the Surf and Sand since the grandparents will be staying there. I was so excited to stay at that hotel because it is one of my favorites! My family used to stay there a lot when I was younger and I just had so much fun in the ocean!

So finally Friday January 28th rolled around and we were heading to the resort to meet up with Justin’s parents and grandparents. As we were checking in Justin told me to just sit in the lobby and keep an eye out for his mom and grandma since they are probably walking around the hotel. So I sat on one of the couches looking for them and enjoying the views. Justin finished checking us in and we headed to our room 9th floor “Top of the Surf” I thought “Wow, your parents got us an awesome room!” Justin told me to open the door and when I did there were rose petals, candles, and champagne! He took me out to the balcony and proposed. Obviously his parents and grandparents were not there it was just part of the plan! That night at dinner the waitress brought out a special dessert to congratulate us on our engagement. Luckily, that weekend was 75-80 degrees so we were able to enjoy our engagement weekend lounging by the pool and the beach!

I wanted my wedding to be timeless, romantic, and classic. I wanted to look back in 20 years at my wedding and it still be in style and beautiful. I looked at a lot of wedding blogs to get ideas and inspiration. I knew I wanted white/ivory flowers and gold accents. Since I got married in spring I wanted a spring pastel color to throw in. I thought of light pink and peach then realized Justin’s favorite color is blue and thought how beautiful would a punch of light/pale blue would be! When I brought the color scheme idea to my wedding planner, Kerrie Underhill and the awesome team of vendors they made my vision come to life.

I knew I wanted to get married by the beach so I checked out a couple of venues and Pelican Hill was on the top of my list! My parents and I went to the resort and immediately fell in love. The beautiful golf course (My Dad is a golfer so he appreciated that!), the ocean view, and the private ceremony location which was very important to Justin! I really liked the fact the Pelican Hill does only one wedding/day. That meant to us that we got 100% of the resort/staffs attention. To top it off Erin, the catering coordinator was excellent to work with. She was so through and always answered questions!

Justin and I wanted the ceremony to be light and happy. We chose JP Reynolds to be our officiant and he was the perfect person for our ceremony! We really wanted to highlight family since we are so close to ours. JP had a really great idea so give a blessing to our Mom’s and giving them a single white rose. That was a real special touch and our Mom’s really appreciated it.

I really wanted my guests to enjoy the reception. This was the time to let loose and have a good time! A butler passed around two different kinds of drinks Champagne (to match my gold accents), and a Pacific Blue Martini (which matched my blue accent). The guests really seemed to enjoy those unique touches. Also, I really wanted to give my guests a fine dining experience. After the wedding everyone was telling me how impressed they were with the food and drink service. The Pelican Hill staff would serve a table at the same time so no one was left waiting for their food… many guests said they felt like they were at a royal wedding or a White House dinner… they felt very special.

We also did a Same Day Edit. This means that our awesome videographer, Elysium Productions, edited footage from getting ready to the first dance. They able to make a 3-5 minute highlight video that played after cake cutting for the guests to see! All of the guests were so impressed by this video. They were able to see Justin and I getting ready, the ceremony, and all the other details of the wedding!
