From the Bride... As corny as it may sound, my husband and I first met off the internet 15 years ago through a chat engine called ICQ. As of October 6, 1997, my life changed forever. We stuck to being friends for the remainder of our high school days, concentrating on our studies (as if!). It was not until university that we decided to date, and the rest is history.

Having been born and grown up in Sydney, Australia, we loved our traditional Chinese wedding rituals, from playing games on the groom and groomsman to more formal tea ceremony with the elders. Mixing the eastern and western influence in our lives made the day even more special. Having lived in London for a couple of years, we had a great opportunity to travel to many European countries and fell in love with provincial France. The French doors, rolling hills, countryside, food, a relaxed and laid-back lifestyle — who wouldn't fall in love? We wanted a wedding that was an escape from hustle and bustle of city Sydney life and to enjoy the happy, carefree and timelessness of a little piece of Provence in Bowral, Australia. Hopewood Country House was the first and last venue we saw, and we knew it would be our perfect location! Not to mention Suzie, the owner of the estate, was a dream to work with! We wanted our guests to have fun and enjoy the day, so I found Laura Nehls on Etsy to design our invitations, which resembled mini passports in a color palette of green and champagne hues to convey the hint of the country, warmth and travel.

The 11 acres of pristine garden of Hopewood Country House were the perfect backdrop to our subtle, detailed personal touches that made it our dream wedding. Using an old-school Polaroid camera for our guest messages draped across the many willow trees, guests could capture the moment and provide the warmth of well wishes slowly swaying in the warm summer breeze. Anita Pollard and her band were perfect for our ceremony and reception. Dressed in shabby chic, 1950s, French style and accompanied by a double bass, piano, and guitar, they set the mood for the day delivering laid-back, old-school, glamorous songs by artists such as Melody Gardot and Madeleine Peyroux. We loved every minute of every moment of that day. I wish we could live in the moment forever!
