Palo Alto Wedding from Closer to Love Photography

There are so many sweet shabby chic inspired details at this wedding that I really don’t know where to start! From the little angel figurines to the wooden bird houses to the Scrabble tiles, I am overwhelmed with admiration for this creative couple. And can I be honest for a second? I am in love with ALL things shabby chic, so what I’d really like to do is go shopping at this wedding — I’d take home everything!! Closer to Love Photography captures all of it in the full gallery of photos right here.

And don’t miss the video (there’s a flash mob!) from Visia Productions:

From the Bride… From the start, I knew my wedding had to be all about the little details. I wanted our wedding to be unique and to define who we are as a couple, but solving this task was a little bit more difficult than I had anticipated. Like all weddings, it all started with a lot of decision-making. Before this process, I thought I was good at making decisions, but that turned out to be one of the hardest things for me to do. This was our ONE and ONLY wedding, and I wanted it to be perfect. Having dreamed of my wedding a million times as a little girl, I thought I knew exactly what I would want, but when it came to actually making the decisions, I suddenly didn’t know what I wanted. Andrew and I were engaged for almost two years, and had plenty of time (maybe too much time) to figure out what we both envisioned for our day.

We booked our (first) wedding venue, and a few months later they went out of business. We then booked our second wedding venue, but after much thought, we decided it wasn’t for us. We then finally found a perfect, intimate garden in downtown Palo Alto, and we knew this was the perfect place for our perfect day! After thinking we had an amazing photographer booked, we found Closer to Love and immediately changed our mind and booked Sammy and Natalia! After booking the most important things, I started digging deep into my already made wedding binder that I started almost ten years ago. (A girl can always dream!) We finally agreed on a shabby chic-themed wedding, which resulted in us gaining inspiration from every antique store, thrift store and home goods store in town! The ideas were endless. I wanted to be sure that I made or purchased every single thing separately and put it all together, and that’s exactly what we did. We had the entire family helping — my amazing father-in-law built wooden tables; my crafty mother-in-law made the fabulous moss letters; my aunt, uncle and mom folded boxes and cut string; and my wonderful step-mom made 200 homemade cookies as the wedding favors. Everyone had a hand in putting together our wedding, and that’s what made it so special and unique.

I now believe everything happens for a reason. We may have had some problems making up our mind, but in the end, everything was perfect and exactly how we wanted it. My husband and I couldn’t be happier with how things turned out, and we are so blessed to have had the most special day.
