I love the beauty of tradition, pure and simple. And in combination with a mix of cultures, it can be breathtaking, also pure and simple. From the Bride & Groom… Our wedding was a blend of Hindu and Jewish elements — combining our two cultures. For example, our chuppah, under which the bride and groom stand in a Jewish wedding, was covered by the sari worn by Sumana’s late grandmother. The readings, too, were inspired by passages from Jewish and Hindu texts. Indian weddings typically embrace vibrant colors, such as magenta, red, and marigold. We thought that the boldness of these lovely colors would provide a nice contrast with the lush, green surroundings of our wedding in Yountville, California.
We have so many favorite moments: walking down the aisle, surrounded by our closest friends and family; listening to our friends’ and families’ wonderful toasts over a beautiful dinner; and reveling in a very energetic dance party! We followed up the wedding with a terrific three weeks in Greece and Italy. Since returning, we have been thoroughly enjoying spending time together, now that the wedding planning is behind us! As far as advice, keep in mind, especially during the stressful moments, that you’re getting married because you love each other and want to spend your lives together.
