From the Bride… Jake and I met and live in Los Angeles but are originally from Seattle and Dallas, and we both have family scattered about the U.S. No matter where we went, we knew we be planning a destination wedding for the majority of our guests. As such, we wanted to host an affair that embodied all the beauty that Southern California has to offer. We both love the outdoors, and Jake is an avid gardener, so an outdoor venue was the obvious choice. Twin Peaks was the first place we looked at, and we immediately fell in love with the scenery, gardens, magnificent views and mission revival architecture.

Ojai is also such a majestic and charming place with a small town, old California feel. It was the perfect backdrop for the understated, romantic and intimate vibe we wanted our wedding to project. We wanted to natural beauty of our surroundings and the joy of the occasion to truly take center stage. Our coordinators did an excellent job of making the event feel effortless, organic and intimate without sacrificing elegance or quality (while accommodating 160 out of town guests). Jake and I are big foodies, so the food and wine was also very important to us. We loved the idea of a fresh, seasonal menu with family-style service for our main course. Tasting and picking a menu was difficult because everything was so good. We ended up with both tray passed and stationary appetizers, followed by three courses and three cake flavors because we loved everything. We were blown away by how impeccably everything turned out and truly feasted on our wedding day.

Music is also important to us, so we wanted different musical elements to every part of the day — a sting quartet for the ceremony, a jazz trio for cocktails and a full band for dinner and the reception. The band was great, but the most memorable part of the wedding was my sister’s jaw dropping rendition of “At Last,” which was followed by a standing ovation! She is always an excellent performer, but hearing her sing at our wedding reception was like nothing else. It was a touching moment and something we will both cherish forever. This was also a great segue from dinner and speeches to dancing, and we danced under the stars all night (as did most of our guests). We are incredibly grateful to Erin and Courtney who captured the entire event beautifully. And to the ladies at Bash for making everything look impeccable and the day run seamlessly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
