Alice in Wonderland Inspired Shoot by Tamara Lockwood + Shealyn Angus

We simply adore tea parties around here at SMP and this Alice in Wonderland inspired shoot has really got us going. Dreamy pearls, an abundance of sweets, and the prettiest of peonies make this shoot a world of splendor perfectly captured through Tamara Lockwood’s wonderful lens. The incredible, romantic, and perfectly classic Ines Di Santo gown has me sitting and staring in awe. Shealyn Angus Events has taken this theme of Alice in Wonderland and styled these images in a completely unexpected and truly spectacular way. We have plenty more marvelous images in the gallery right here for you.

From Shealyn Angus EventsWho doesn’t love homemade cookies, pretty tea cups, a beautiful bride and a tiny kitty, to boot!? I styled this shoot to be light, airy and totally detail-oriented, from the little pearls lining the edge of an old book and the lace ribbon adorning the vases, to the title of the books we chose to decorate the table with. It was inspired by Alice in Wonderland and the beautiful antique tea cups sitting in my mothers home. We wanted to use our theme to help us be creative, but didn’t want to overuse this much-loved motif. So we let it inspire the idea of a bridal tea party — the shapes, the whimsy in using nontraditional curtains and theater drapes as tablecloths, building up the table with clocks, books and cards. We also put the bride in the biggest, tea-cup-esque Ines di Santo gown we could find! Our pastel color theme of soft pink and green was carried throughout the florals, macaroons, cupcakes, and bridesmaids’ outfits, and our shoot was kept soft thanks to the beautiful natural lighting. And it didn’t hurt that the whole house smelled of freshly-baked cookies, cupcakes and icing. A completely DIY project, I wanted our theme to be transferable to a larger-scale wedding project as easily as it could be kept small and simple for a bridal shower, a day-of gathering or even a day-after soiree. As the British would say, any time is a good time for tea!
