Highlands, NC Wedding from whitebox weddings + Asheville Event Co.

When the bride and groom can playfully don zebra and giraffe masks for their wedding portraits, count me in. As in, count me in as one of their (wannabe) best friends. They are just that cool. They enlisted Asheville Event Co. to plan a super gorgeous wedding, grabbed whitebox weddings to fill their albums with gold, and had a total blast. It doesn’t get better than that, especially when the gallery is sitting right here!

Being a graphic designer, I knew what I wanted when planning the wedding. The trick was finding the right wedding planners who would let me design everything how I wanted, and then help me to create that vision and ensure everything went smoothly. I found that in Asheville Event Company. They let me do my thing, but also guided me when I needed it. They were great.

When designing the wedding, my husband and I really wanted everything to feel like us. We both love good design, food, and the mountains. We wanted to juxtapose the natural setting of the mountains and orchard with vintage furniture outside, massive balloons, and other man-made elements. Similarly, we had a calligrapher scrawl cheeky old movie quotes — from Billy Madison, etc — in gorgeous, elegant type on brown kraft paper for table runners. I also handmade a quirky SmileBooth backdrop and provided animal masks and other fun props, to contrast nicely with the rich grandeur of Old Edward’s Farm Pavilion.
