When I first laid eyes on the layers and layers of delicate ombre cake from Cakes by Chloe, I about died. It’s stunning. Almost too good to eat. And when I was able to stop drooling over the confections, I saw the delicate layers planned and designed by Orangerie Events of this gorgeous shoot. Layer on layer on layer of vintage charm, sweet details, and chic design, all captured in a fabulous gallery by Renee Sprink Photography!
From Orangerie Events … As three creative professionals, Priscilla Erwin of Orangerie Events, Renee Sprink of Renee Sprink Photography and Julie Liles of Julie Liles Florist desired to create a styled shoot that infused a classic elegance in a rustic setting. While brainstorming together, the idea to design a styled shoot based around a collection of girly details with rustic charm was born and the process to bring “Enchanted Elegance” to life began.
PurpleBerry Plantation in Lousiburg, North Carolina was the perfect backdrop for the shoot. Boasting a beautiful landscape among a sea of historic pines, the plantation has a host of areas ideal for a romantic wedding setting. Enriched with history, the plantation has everything from barns to vineyards to cabins.
We wanted this shoot to be a direct reflection of the level of style and creativity we offer our clients and an accurate depiction of a wedding from start to finish. So sit back and enjoy the view as we walk through our enchanted wonderland.
The tone of the entire wedding was set at the beginning with the custom invitations designed by emDOTzee Designs. As an ode to the natural setting, a paper resembling wood grain was used as opposed to standard stationery paper.
As guests arrive to the property, they’re greeted with a welcome table complete with a framed cork board and customized pinned envelopes. Each guest selects an adorned envelope, reads the question on the back and leaves their answer on the enclosed card. The envelopes are then placed into a scrapbook after the wedding as a keepsake for the couple. Guests are directed to the wooded ceremony site by following the hanging chalkboard signs. The guests are encouraged to take a blanket from the vintage suitcases before taking their seats on the rustic benches. The programs were designed to function as scrolls and were tied together with unique beading and lace.
Guests are led to the reception and discover their assigned tables by selecting their escort card from a hanging wire frame. Each escort card is tied to fresh cut flowers and herbs such as lavender. The reception table is draping with details from the lace table runner, to the tea cups with flag place cards to the ruffle pillows at each seat. Each place setting featured a custom menu atop a blush napkin. The collection of mercury vases, antique vases and silver candelabras transforms an ordinary table into a breathtaking display. Julie Liles did an amazing job with the hanging grapevine centerpiece complete with fresh vines and flowers. Mark Peelman with Peelman Productions provided lighting to enhance the table and to show the transition from day to night.
The cake was hosted inside one of the many wooden buildings on the property. To compliment the decor and overall aesthetic of the design, Chloe Lee with Cakes by Chloe created an incredible three-tier ruffle cake featuring a turquoise ombre effect. The cake was set atop a pale pink petal linen from CE Rentals and was surrounded by an assortment of lit pillar candles.
For a late night treat, an entire dessert station highlighting bananas was designed. The “Driving Me Bananas” dessert station featured banana splits, banana popsicles swimming in champagne, deep fried banana spring rolls and banana cream pie. You can’t possibly have a banana themed dessert station without banana pudding! Each serving included a mini-spoon tied with lace on the handle. Signature drinks were on display complete with sugar rims and beautified with a sprig of lavender.
The bride looked stunning and carried a gorgeous bouquet of flowers that had just a touch of feathers and lace. The bride and groom’s beloved pet Westie played the role of ring bearer and even had a custom flower collar made. The bride and groom took advantage of a prime photo opportunity on the custom built swing that was adorned with fresh vines.
From start to finish, this styled shoot gives a glimpse into the power that lies in the details and the talent of our local wedding professionals. I hope you enjoyed looking through the pictures as much as I enjoyed designing it.
