Los Olivos Wedding from Chris Humphreys Photography

I have two words. Holy. Moly. The light in this Los Olivos wedding is phenomenal, and Chris Humphreys Photography captured it in a way that has sent all of the SMP offices into a swooning fit. The soft sunset peeking over the mountains in the distance has highlighted the gorgeous couple, and accentuated their stunning soiree, in a way that is beYOND. Beyond. And there is even more in the gallery, if you can believe it!

After an exciting, “Amazing Race” style scavenger hunt proposal, which had me solving riddles, visiting places where we fell in love and eventually hiking to the top of a mountain; we decided to have a wedding weekend that was true to us and our style.

Besides the amazing backdrop, we chose the venue because there were close to no rules that would impair our good time! Friends and family could stay on site with us in the house, or pitch a tent on the property.  We could be loud and use the space as we chose to, and serve whatever food or drink we wanted (including our best friend’s homebrew!) The venue gave us the freedom to design the day exactly as we wanted.

My brother officiated the ceremony and he instantly calmed our wedding day nerves with great jokes, thoughtful stories and audience participation. Our wedding guests did “the wave” to show us their support! Our ceremony was comfortable and full of love. We wanted to stay in that moment forever. My brother did a great job at setting the tone for the rest of the evening.

We planned everything ourselves and had a great time adding our own personalized touches. Some highlights were a rehearsal dinner water-balloon fight and other shenanigans, a Mad-libs style guest book and an impromptu costume party. We brought a chest of wigs, fake mustaches and other costumes and within seconds of opening it the entire party was decked out in flair.  Nothing was better than seeing my mom getting down on the dance floor in a blue beehive wig, or my dad with a fake mustache and sparkly barrettes in his hair. Everyone was beaming and had an absolute blast!  We sent our guests home (in a shuttle bus) with a homemade cookbook consisting of some of our favorite recipes as our favor.

The night was full of laughter and love and everyone kept commenting on how our wedding was so distinctly “us.” It was truly the day of our dreams.
