Houston Oaks Country Club Wedding by Taylor Lord Photography

Classic, rustic, glam. That sums up this Houston Oaks Country Club in a three word nutshell. But you know we wouldn’t give you just the gist of the pretty captured by Taylor Lord Photography. There are still blush antique florals by A Symphony of Flowers to drool over, custom rusted table numbers made by the father of the bride, and an unreal sunset ceremony and more in the full wedding!

From the Bride… We chose a soft, yet inviting color palette of champagne, latte and hints of dusty rose. I knew I wanted our wedding to be full of whimsy and charming details and that it would be a lot of work, but a lot of fun too! Trusting that we had the same vision in mind, my ever-so-sweet husband left most of the details up to me. We were especially blessed to have a long-time family friend preside over the ceremony, which took place under a simple-turned gorgeous trellis that my florist made lush with greenery and flowers. Glitter-coated twigs sparkled in the sun as they peeked through the greenery. Being surrounded by the huge oak trees with the breeze off of the lake and the sun gleaming through gave me chills! There are so many vivid memories I have of this day, but the part that makes me smile the biggest was when I stepped off of the golf cart before I was to walk down the aisle. My dad and I were laughing through tears saying, “Keep it together,” and then I walked down the aisle to my most handsome and tearful groom (sorry, sweetheart)!

The reception was where I could really be creative and make this celebration something fabulous! We wanted guests to really feel our presence and personalities in every last detail. From the organically-arranged centerpieces with distinctive flowers set atop tree moss and oak stumps, to the unique accessories and love birds incorporated throughout, it all felt so personal and refreshing to see it come together after the planning! With the chill in the air, the huge fireplace seemed to welcome everyone in, and it became the perfect spot for guests to lounge as they enjoyed the band and dancing. Every other table had the same arrangement set high atop ornate candelabras dripping with vintage crystals. Unique wrought iron table numbers made by my dad were rusted and went perfectly with the theme. Personal touches and DIY projects were so worth the time and energy! Lucky for me, the first BHLDN store opened in Houston just in time for me to start shopping! There, we found the paper poms and antique glittered “bride” and “groom” banners to string along the backs of our chairs. We also found some of my favorite pieces, which included the sweethearts forks and “just married” gold-trimmed plates for the cake cutting, as well as my ultimate favorite: the vintage lovebirds cake topper! The paper poms were hung at the pavilion entrance, where guests were greeted with Texas Tea (complete with a mint leaf and cute paper straw). Guests found their table number from yarn draped across an old frame and signed the guest book at a table decorated with vintage lace and pictures in rustic frames on antique books. I had found a large bird cage hanging from a stand at a local vintage shop that I knew I wanted to use at our wedding. We found a beautiful chandelier that fit inside and cozied up the entrance with its warm glow! Candles from Anthropologie helped set the ambiance, filling the air with a sweet and welcoming fragrance of home. It was charming to step in and see the beautiful wedding cake with the stone fireplace roaring in the background. The wedding cake made for the perfect focal point as guests had to walk around the table when they entered the main reception area. From the vintage bird cake topper and ruffles on the cake, down to the oak tree base with glass glitter shimmering off the tablecloth it sat on, it was stunning.

The night went on with out a hitch. We were so blessed to have such great weather — everything turned out even better than I had imagined! It would not have been possible without my mom, who was my wedding planner, multi-tasking down to the day of the wedding. I also owe a special thanks to my sister, dad, and aunts, for taking all of my ideas to heart and helping me create the most perfect day of our lives! Caleb and I prayed that our family and closest friends would be touched by the ceremony, would enjoy the celebration, and would be blessed by the details of our special day. Seeing how much fun everyone had — I think we pulled it off!
