From Bloom Photography… Ayan and Michael were married on September 3rd, 2011, on the rooftop of the Spoke Club in downtown Toronto. Both Ottawa natives, Ayan and Michael actually attended the same high school. Years later, fate stepped in and reunited them in Toronto, where they’ve both relocated.
The couple performed a humanist wedding ceremony amongst family and friends holding white balloons. After the ceremony, the balloon tags served as their “guestbook.” Their wedding ceremony was followed by a Chinese tea ceremony, in celebration of Michael’s heritage; Ayan’s heritage was also included with an African dance at the end of the night. The urban settings, from the Spoke Club to 99 Sudbury, were offset by the couple’s whimsical, vintage and elegant personal touches. A canvas from the couple’s home inspired the bird theme motif. Ornate birdcages, white pillar candles and wildflowers served as centerpieces and paper bird cutouts were place setting cards. The simple and clean décor complemented 99 Sudbury’s unique chandeliers perfectly. The couple’s first dance was personally choreographed to a collection of their favorite songs, performed on the patio at the end of the night.
