From the Bride… We got married in December in the Hunter Valley near Sydney, so we expected that the day would be boiling hot. This did not bode well for me and my Canadian blood, but my fiance convinced me that all would be well, and it was. We had just about the most perfect day imaginable: cool, clear skies, beautiful sun and just enough wind to make my dress fly!
My immediate and some extended family came all the way from Canada to celebrate with us, so we knew we had to put on a party. We wanted to get through the ceremony as fast as possible so that we could get to the food, the wine that the region is famous for, and most of all, the dancing! The decor and ambiance for the day came together perfectly. We bought herb trusses from the local market for our centrepieces, covered everything in burlap, and let our beautiful venue mostly speak for itself. One of my bridesmaids put together all the flowers, which received rave reviews from all present. The bridesmaids chose their dresses (mostly from their own closets!), and the flower girls stole the show.
All of this added up to a relaxed, summery, loved-up celebration that would have lasted all night, were it not for potential noise violations. My husband and I both look back on the day and all of the personal touches we were able to incorporate so fondly. It was a mishmash of ideas and concepts and it worked out to represent us completely. We couldn’t have been happier with all of it, and we wish we could go back and do it all again!
