Kelowna Wedding at Summerhill Pyramid Winery by Rachel Peters Photography

I will warn you now…there simply wasn’t enough space on these boards to share all of the DIY details and thoughtful vignettes in this Summerhill Pyramid Winery wedding-so you must check it out in its entirety in the full gallery! Styled to perfection and dripping with family heirlooms (even the wedding date had special significance!) this bride outdid herself, taking crafting to the next level! Rachel Peters Photography snapped up all the stills and Limelight Studios caught the entire day in real-time…there is inspiration GALORE from the rest of this fabulous day!

From the Bride… Darcy and I were in PEI for Christmas 2010. On Christmas Eve, we went shopping to find something special for his mom and grandmother. I didn’t know at the time, but Darcy wanted all the special women in his life to get diamonds for Christmas (ahhhh). On our way home, he stopped at several different beaches along the North Shore. Unfortunately, winter had been harsh up to that point, and most of the beaches had been washed away. This made getting down to the water next to impossible. On our way back to Gram’s house, Darcy drove up a hill to the tower (the only major tower on Prince Edward Island), across the street from where his Gram lived when Darcy was a child. From the top of the hill, you can see most of the island. It was here, the first place Darcy took me on my very first trip to PEI in 2008, that he proposed.

From Rachel Peters PhotographyThe emotional and amazing wedding was held at Summerhill Winery in beautiful Kelowna, BC, overlooking a vineyard. During the ceremony, Darcy sang a song he had written and recorded about Tess. The song was titled Tingles (Tess Ingalls), a nickname Darcy had given Tess when they first met. It was obvious to everyone on the day that wherever the nickname came from, it was quite fitting. Hearts were certainly tingling when they looked at each other! The fact that the couple are opposite sides of the country (PEI and Saskatchewan) made planning a wedding somewhat challenging. They finally settled on Kelowna, British Columbia, as a location. It was one of the first places they visited as a couple, and they were smitten with the weather, the scenery and the wineries. They see Kelowna as Canada’s own version of Tuscany.

The spring wedding date was a very special day for the bride, and they chose it as a way to honor two very special people.  A day shared with the birthday of her Grandma McKone’s and also the day of her Grandpa McKone’s funeral. May is an especially beautiful time of year in Kelowna. The flowers are in full bloom, and mild temperatures perfect for a spring wedding. The design of this wedding was pure vintage loveliness. Vintage Orgami’s amazing furniture and rentals flowed endlessly throughout both the ceremony and reception sites. Flowers from Classic Creations Florals Design in the softest, palest of hues complemented this design perfectly. Flowers were essential to the theme, used not only in bouquets and perfect boutonnieres but also throughout the whole site! On display at the reception was Tess’ grandmother’s vintage wedding gown, an indication of endless love and adoration for a women who meant so much to Tess. Not only sentimental, the dress was a quite fitting with the design of the wedding. Tess and Darcy’s favorite candy and sweets were assembled in a candy buffet. Cupcakes, cake treats and mini cakes from CupCasions completed the buffet and were enjoyed by many! In between the ceremony and reception, guests snacked on salted and caramel popcorn.
